David Sloan Wilson on how Jeff Bezos don’t know squat about chickens (or evolution!)

This is an interesting analysis of the Bezos way of doing business, which represents an oft-lauded bastardization of Darwinian theory. What I like about Wilson’s brief analysis is that he focuses back on the unit of selection that matters for a business: the corporation. Unless you naively believe that benefits at the individual level always scale up to benefits at the group level, you can’t possibly think that incentivizing success at the individual level is a guarantee of making your corporation succeed.

Considering that in 2021 Amazon is the second largest corporation in the world, maybe Bezos’ grasp of what matters for business was slightly better than David S. Wilson?
